VMs Plus

VMs Plus a specially designed Vitamin and Mineral Supplement for Teens and Young Adults

VMS Plus

Young people don’t always eat a balanced diet! So nutritional support can help fill the gaps to create a strong foundation of physical health.

We started with a full A-Z range of all the vitamins and minerals and trace elements that are known to be necessary for health. (In this age group intakes of vitamins A, E and C and the minerals calcium, zinc and iron are often lower than recommended).

Then we boosted the supplement with additional amounts of 7 key nutrients and added the carotenoids beta carotene and lycopene which are powerful antioxidants. Hence the name VMs Plus .

Beta carotene is converted by the body into Vitamin A as needed. Vitamin A is vital for normal vision and healthy bone and teeth growth, and it helps keep skin healthy. Uni-Vite’s beta carotene is from natural sources (it provides the orange-yellow colour in fruits and vegetables such as carrots, yellow and red peppers, sweet potatoes, mangoes and apricots). The healthy structure and function of newly formed cells relies on the presence of vitamins A, C, and E.

Vitamin C [ 200mg ] is an antioxidant that protects the body’s cells and keeps blood vessels healthy. It is essential to build and maintain healthy bones, teeth, cartilage, gums and skin. It helps to support the body’s immune system.

Vitamin E [ 50mg ] is also a powerful antioxidant which protects the body’s cells and strengthens the body’s defences by fighting free radical damage. Environmental pollutants can create more free radicals than the active young body can easily handle.

Thiamin (Vitamin B1) [ 2.8mg ] is needed to release energy from carbohydrates in foods, and to keep the heart and nervous system working properly.

Vitamin B12 [ 3.6mcg ] is needed to keep the nervous system healthy and for healthy blood.

Vitamin B6 [ 4mg ] is essential for muscle function and important for the immune and nervous systems. B6 also helps the body handle iron.

Vitamin D [ 10mcg ] helps maintain normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus and is needed for the development of healthy strong bones and teeth. Vitamin D is also important in maintaining a healthy immune system.

Recent research suggests that up to 75% of young adults in the Northern hemisphere may have insufficient vitamin D in their bodies, because they don’t get enough sunlight on their skin (the body can make Vitamin D by exposure to the sun), and dietary intakes are too low.

Selenium [ 150mcg ] is another antioxidant that helps scavenge free radicals. It is essential for cell protection and for the function of the immune system in particular.

Lycopene i s an antioxidant carotenoid found in tomatoes which helps to protect body cells and maintain a healthy cardiovascular system.
